The arrival and my first week

Fachhochschule
First of all i would like to thank all my dear friends who had taken time off their sleep and the effort to travel down all the way, just to send me off. Thank you my dear friends, i will miss you all.

After the painful farewell, i took the step out of my comfort zone.
Before the my arab plane 777 can take off from singapore to dubai, we waited frigging 1hr for a bunch of stupid mats...fxxking idiots. The flight took abt 7 hrs and i arrive at mat land at ard 7-8am. Their airport is crazy man, the world is here, because as long as you take emirates for a long flight, you will have to transit in dubai. Wtf. There were people everywhere sleeping on the floorand the seats, queues every where, just fxxking messy lah. (Btw, there were long queues every where becos the customs check are not equipped with hand held metal detectors, so you have to remove everything till you can pass the detection gantry, so people were trying to take off their belts, shoes etc etc and putting it thru the x ray box.

After the custom checks, i proceeded to my departure gate for hamburg, waited 1 hr, made a german butch friend. She's quite cool, punk with a stylo hair. She was returning home after travelling for 3 mths in australia and new zealand, got some traveling tips for germany from her but i forgot her name...hah.

The flight from dubai took about 7.5 hrs, it was quite an amazing flight. Flying across the light blue arabian seas, deserts of kuwait, iraq, pakistan .......over snow capped mountains in the deserts. Past instanbul, poland, berlin then finally hamburg. I also manage to take plenty of beautiful 'bird's eye view' scenery pics, but unfortunately they will never be published. Becos i lost my fucking camera on the way to my hostel. I'm trying to forget the incident, so ask no more.

After 14 hrs of flight, 1 hour of drive and a lost camera, i reached my hostel. It called Wirtschakademie aka money sucking hole. Paid 300 euros for my 1st mth of rent, got my new room. To be frank, the room is actually pretty nice, equipped with a bath room, clean and nice view from the 7th level. But this place in germany, you have to pay for your internet. I paid 10euros for a mthly prepaid card for wireless internet usage in my room, and if you step out of the hostel, no more wireless reception. Few places in Kiel have wireless hot spots, so its more backwards than our singapore in this area. Another point to add is that the 'GST' here is 19%, Nice.......!

General info on Kiel,Germany.:

Everything here is pretty expensive, especially the transport. An average daily cost of transport just to get to school and back is ard 20 euros or $40. So walking is the best tansport, save money, sight seeing, exercise and leg aches..i walked abt 15-20 km for the 1st 2 days and subsequently manage to hitch a ride from my colleague and also took the ferry.

new album name

Weather here is around 2-10deg C. No snow, dark, cloudy, rainy and windy. Occasionally, some sunshine, but only between 8am-5pm. when there is no wind, it is pretty comfortable with my clothing, when the wind blows, it can be quite chilling and you can be blown off your feet with windspeed up to 20+ mph. But overall, i'm ok with the weather.

Working environment:

My workplace is in a small lab called the research ctr for adaptronics inside the Fachhochshule campus( university of applied sciences). It a small uni, probably around the size of a junior college. I'm under the supervision of my prof, prof helmut dispert, nice guy. With another 3 german guys and 1 russian girl in my lab. The place is boring and the people are boring too, but nice people though.

Food.

My best meal every day is at the 'mensa' ( uni canteen). The food here is ikea style with a different menu each day. a normal lunch meal consist of a main dish( eg. pork chop) Bake potatoes, salad and drinks all at ard 3-4 euros. On top of that my lab mates will always buy wafers and each of us get a slice. Breakfast is usually bread on the go and dinner is bread, soup, tuna, or instant noodles. Got to eat their hot dog, Bratwurst and their turkish doner (Kebab) ...................shiok.
